Lenten Fundraising Activities – Supporting the Trócaire Campaign 2025

2nd Apr 2026

Throughout the season of Lent, our pupils took part in a wonderful range of fundraising activities to support our annual Trócaire Campaign. Their enthusiasm, generosity and sense of community spirit were evident every step of the way.

“Guess How Many Sweets Are in the Jar?” Competition

This year’s main Lenten competition brought great excitement to the school! Pupils bought tickets to guess how many sweets were in the jar and the buzz around the classrooms was fantastic. The big draw took place on Wednesday 1st April, with not one but two successful winners who correctly guessed 237 sweets. Congratulations to our lucky winners, Ella (Primary 3) and Ethan (Primary 6)  our successful winners in the sweets competition. Enjoy your treats!

Large Easter Egg Draw

Each ticket from the sweets competition was also entered into our annual Large Easter Egg draw, very kindly donated once again by Derek and Maxine from The Port Bar, Mountnorris. We are incredibly grateful for their continued generosity.

The draw also took place on 1st April, and huge congratulations go to Daniel (Primary 4) winner of the Large Easter Egg, which he is very excited to enjoy over the Easter holidays!

We would like to congratulate and thank all our Primary 7 pupils for selling the tickets for these competitions.

Trócaire Classroom Boxes

All pupils were also encouraged to bring in small change throughout Lent for their classroom Trócaire Boxes. Our boys and girls were extremely generous, regularly contributing their coins and showing great compassion for others.

As part of this activity, the class that collected the highest total was awarded a large jar of sweets. Every class raised an impressive amount, but it was Mrs Duffy’s Foundation Stage Class who collected the most. They were absolutely delighted to win the giant jar of sweets—and even more delighted to share and enjoy them together!

A Fantastic Total Raised

Through all of our Lenten activities, our school community raised an outstanding total of £548 for Trócaire. This is a remarkable achievement and we are so proud of all our pupils for their kindness and commitment to helping others. Thank You

A heartfelt thank you to all our parents, carers, families and staff for your generosity and support throughout our Lenten fundraising. These activities simply would not be possible without you.

Easter Mass & Celebrations

We ended the term with a beautiful Easter Mass celebrated by Fr. Murphy, helping us reflect on the meaning of Lent and Easter. After the Easter holidays, our pupils will formally present Fr. Murphy with the cheque for Trócaire.

We rounded off our exciting day on Wednesday with our annual Easter Egg Hunt. The children had a wonderful time searching for treats and enjoying the fun-filled celebrations.
