Primary 6 & 7 Attend the Bee Safe Event 2026

5th Feb 2026

On Wednesday 4th February, our Primary 6 and Primary 7 pupils took part in the Newry & Mourne Bee Safe 2026 Programme at Ballyholland Community Centre. This long running community safety initiative brings together a range of local agencies to help children learn how to keep themselves safe in everyday situations.

Throughout the afternoon, pupils rotated through a series of interactive, age appropriate workshops, each designed to build awareness and confidence in key areas of personal safety. Topics included:

  • Staying Safe as a Bus Passenger (Translink Workshop)
  • Fire Safety
  • Internet Awareness and Online Safety
  • Healthy Eating and Making Balanced Food Choices
  • Keeping Active: The Importance of Daily Physical Activity
  • General Personal Safety

The hands on nature of the sessions ensured the children were fully engaged from start to finish. Our pupils asked thoughtful questions, participated enthusiastically and gained valuable knowledge they can use in their daily lives.

The event was not only informative but extremely enjoyable, giving our pupils the chance to learn directly from community professionals in a practical and memorable way. It proved to be a highly beneficial learning experience for all involved, enriching our ongoing work in promoting pupil wellbeing and safety.

We are very grateful to the organisers and all the agencies involved for providing such an important educational opportunity for our pupils.
