Celebrating Sport and Teamwork at the Loughgilly Blitz
We had a fantastic day on Friday 12th June at our Loughgilly Blitz! Well done to St. Michael’s, Clady and St. Teresa’s, Tullyherron on reaching the Cup Final and to St. Malachy’s, Ballymoyer and St. Michael’s, Newtown on reaching the Shield Final. Congratulations to St. Michael’s, Clady, who proudly took home the Loughgilly Cup and to St. Malachy’s, Ballymoyer, who were deserving winners of the Loughgilly Shield.
It was a brilliant day enjoyed by all the participating schools, including St. Michael’s, Clady; St. Malachy’s, Ballymoyer; St. Teresa’s, Tullyherron; St. Laurence O’Toole’s, Belleek; St. Brigid’s, Drumilly; and St. Michael’s, Newtown. The standard of football, teamwork and sportsmanship on display was excellent throughout.
A heartfelt thank you to Neil and Cathal McSherry for refereeing on the day and to St. Killian’s, Whitecross GAA Committee for the use of their outstanding facilities. We are also very grateful to Mr. Kieran Shields for presenting the Cup and Shield and to the Shields family for their generous sponsorship of the tournament. We would also like to thank Mr Patsy Finnegan for his excellent photography, capturing so many special moments on the day.
